Under Bush's plan, Cheney said, the administration would borrow roughly $754 billion over the next 10 years to set up the private accounts.
"We think that's a manageable amount," he told "Fox News Sunday."
Cheney said in the interview that "it is important to manage the fiscal impact of these transitions in an intelligent fashion, and we're well aware of that."
Asked about estimates that trillions of dollars in additional borrowing would be needed in subsequent decades, Cheney said: "That's right. Trillions more after that."
There is not a word in this article about the consequences of running up the National Debt. I don't recall the Bush Administration making any statements about mortgaging our children's future. The Republicans are like people who have no means to delay gratification with a credit card. If they run up the debt far enough, they can just declare bankruptsy. These guys are just totally irresponsible with an extremist agenda with no clear decernable outcome in sight. Whatever they have in mind, I guarentee you will benefit the rich.
