After all the chaos, over 100,000 Iraqi dead, around 30,000 US casualties including medical discharges for stress related illnesses, millions of Iraqi's will risk their lives to vote. It is certainly true that the vote would not have happened with Sadaam in power. But I await the Iraqi people's assessment of whether the change is worth the cost. Perhaps we will find out in the next couple years what they really think. Their assessment will likely be reflected in long-range foreign relations with America. My hunch is that relations will be cordial at best and feelings will be ambivalent. It will be decades before Iraq is rebuilt.
